Abstract.
The purpose of the study is to improve statistical methods of differentiation of municipalities in the region. To achieve this goal , it was necessary to solve the following tasks: to create an information base for conducting a study of single-quality aggregates, municipalities; to consider various modern statistical methods of differentiation in the studied aggregates, domestic and foreign scientists and choose the most adequate for the municipalities of the regions of the Russian Federation; using statistical methods, to differentiate the municipalities of the Orenburg region by the level of socio-economic development. At the same time, it was necessary to form a theoretical basis for the differentiation of municipalities by the level of socio-economic development; to conduct a statistical analysis of the variation of municipalities by indicators of socio-economic development (including indicators of asymmetry); - using multidimensional classification to substantiate-differentiation of municipalities of the Orenburg region using multidimensional statistical methods, cluster analysis. The conclusion reflects the conclusions and suggestions on the conducted research, the list of sources used. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the improvement of applied statistical multidimensional methods of differentiation of municipalities. The practical application of statistical methods in the differentiation of municipalities will allow the region to identify the most priority, from the point of view of the priority of the development of territories.
