Abstract.
The article examines topical issues related to the use and need for information technology and the development of digitalization in the pharmaceutical industry of the Russian Federation. The factors and problems that affect not only the change in the development of the industry itself, but also the trend of development and improvement of business processes based on the introduction of new information technologies, taking into account the digital transformation of the economy, are indicated. This scientific article analyzes the dynamics of the pharmaceutical market and its individual components, in particular pharmacy chains. The development of the number of pharmacies over the years and in connection with what this happens is described. The leader in the number of open pharmacies in the Nizhny Novgorod region has been identified. The main directions of progressive digital technologies used by domestic pharmaceutical companies in their work are indicated. This clearly showed that digitalization should be perceived as the main trend in the development of the modern industry. The results of the study are a detailed consideration of the business process and justification of the importance of introducing an electronic prescription between commercial organizations. A context diagram and a decomposition diagram of this process in the IDEF0 notation are presented. The proposed measures will improve the business processes in the industry and form the directions for the development of the industry, in particular, in the pharmacy chains of the Russian Federation.
