Abstract.

This article examines theoretical and methodological approaches to assessing the spatial effects arising under the influence of growth poles and their impact on regional competitiveness. The relevance of this topic stems from the need to move from the declarative identification of growth points to a quantitative measurement of their real contribution to the development of adjacent territories, including both positive diffusion effects and negative resource outflow effects. The objective of the study is to develop and test a methodological approach to assessing the spatial effects of growth poles based on econometric modeling, identifying multiplicative and infrastructural factors. The article proposes a proprietary methodology that includes calculating spatial autocorrelation coefficients (global and local Moran's I indices), constructing spatial autoregressive models (SAR) and spatial error models (SEM), and assessing the radius of influence of growth poles. The study was tested using data from the Samara Region for 2015–2024. The study identified the aerospace and automotive clusters and the Togliatti Special Economic Zone as growth poles. Positive spatial effects were found to extend over distances of up to 45–60 km, after which they are replaced by outflow effects of personnel and capital. The infrastructure component (transport accessibility) accounts for up to 34 % of the total multiplier effect. The share of negative effects, attributed to peripheral municipal districts, reaches 18–22 % of the growth generated by a growth pole.
