Abstract.

The problems of formation of ensuring sustainable grain production are significant due to the many intersectoral relations of the grain industry with other sectors of the agro-industrial complex and industry. The size of grain production per capita forms a large part of its food supply. Many studies have been devoted to the study of the category of stability, but there is still no single categorical-conceptual apparatus. The article presents approaches to the definition of the category of sustainability, as well as the author's interpretation of the concept of sustainable grain production. The main factors that form the sustainability of grain production are identified on the basis of scientific achievements and practical experience. Criteria and indicators for assessing grain producers when functioning in accordance with the principles of sustainable production are declared. Summarized and presented indicators for assessing the economic efficiency of food and feed grains. The level of sustainability of grain production is determined by the size of the available potential. In the process of grain production, its varieties can be distinguished in the form of resource, production, economic and production-economic potential. Based on the generalization of scientific research on this issue and the characteristics of grain production, the author's definition of the concept of production and economic potential of sustainable grain production is proposed. Methods for assessing the potential have been identified. The results of the study are summarized.
